SUBJECT : NAC Government Affairs Representative

Scootch Pankonin, Government Affairs Representative for the Naturist Action Committee, has announced her intention to  leave her position and turn her focus to other professional interests associated with outdoor recreation.

NAC's lobbyist in Washington, DC since 1994, Pankonin has been associated with lawmakers and policy makers in the nation's capital for thirty-five years. Following ten years as a Congressional staff member, she started her own lobbying firm in 1976.

Bob Morton, chairman and executive director of the Naturist Action Committee, said that Pankonin's decision was accepted by the governing board of the committee "with great reluctance."

"For many of us," Morton said, "Scootch has become much more than a hired consultant. I've learned to trust and respect her judgment. As much as I will miss her, I understand and respect her reasoning in this matter."

No replacement has yet been announced. NAC has begun a search to fill the position.

From her home in Maine, Pankonin was quick to point out that she will remain a member of The Naturist Society, as well as an avid supporter of the Naturist Action Committee.

"I'll be at the Eastern Naturist Gathering in August," she said. This year's Eastern Gathering will be August 20-26 at Eastover Resort in Lenox, Massachusetts.

The Naturist Action Committee is the nonprofit volunteer political action arm of The Naturist Society. NAC's mission is to advance and protect the rights of naturists throughout North America. For more information, visit the NAC web site at:
