Using the Supreme Court's
Erie v. Pap's case as a road map, the city of Thousand Oaks, California, is pushing a new general purpose anti-nudity ordinance. The city's attempt to be "content neutral" in its prohibition of nudity has resulted in wording that prohibits individual naturists and naturist groups from renting a hall for a clothing-optional dinner or a health club for an after-hours nude family swim.
In a puzzling "Me Too" memo to the city council, the city attorney cites the anti-nudity ordinance which he says has already been passed in nearby Simi Valley. As of the date of the memo, the Simi Valley ordinance has not
been passed. Recent Activity From the Thousand Oaks City Council Agenda Items for December 12, 2000, 6 p.m. PST
